These red and black Mexican boxes are hand carved lacquer from the Olinala region.
Each Mexican lacquer box is carved with a different motif of lizards or birds. The older and shabbier vintage wood box is carved with what look like lizards or iguanas, while the newer and smaller one is carved with birds.
These folk art boxes are great for storing receipts or photos.
These hand carved boxes are sold separately and/or as a pair.
Darker and bigger box has tiny speckles of white paint on lid which can most likely be removed, and some missing pieces of lacquer. Smaller box is in better shape , but has a spot on lid.
