This seashell sculpture is topped by the lid of an Indian Tree pattern teapot lid. This pattern was created in the early 10th century by the British Coalport China Factory based on traditional Indian textile patterns, and remained popular well into the early part of the 20th century. Incorporated as picasiette (broken dish) tiles are a teapot, a dish and a bowl in this pattern, as well as some actual Asian ceramics. The spiralling pattern is emphasized with dark red fragments, which offset the predominantly white and pink pieces of the man body of the piece . It is 26 inches in length and 11 inches in circumference at its widest point. It's intended to be an amusing play on scale - you definitely wouldn't miss this beach combing by the seashore.

It was made by layering wire mesh over a carved styrofoam form , followed by three layers of thinset mortar. The pieces were attached with more mortar, and finally the piece was grouted and sealed with silicon spray. . This sculpture may be placed outside in the garden but should rest on a stand or on gravel rather than directly on the soil. It will be sent with the stand shown in the last photo.
