White Fire King small serving bowls with fruit design.. Pattern name is Gay Fad. These pieces are from the 1950s or early 1960s, when the Gay Fad Studio was in business, hand painting dishes. Here I have a set of two.
Dimensions: almost 7" (handle to handle) 5 1/2" across and 2 1/4" high. 1 pint capacity or two cups liquid full to the brim.
Condition: Used/Very good. Please examine the pictures above. One very small chip on the underside of the upper rim of one of the bowls. You cannot see it but you can feel it. Some paint wear on the grapes, which is usually normal on these vintage hand painted pieces. I took pictures of both sides of these bowls so you could see the paint details. Pictures 2 & 3 are examples of both sides. Although, there is paint missing in some spots, more specifically from the grapes, I feel that these items still retain their original vintage charm. Picture 4 shows the makers mark on one of the bowls. The other mark is different & would not photograph well enough to read. But it does say, "TM REG, FIRE-KING, 13, MADE IN USA, 1 PT." The mark in the picture reads, "445, ANCHOR HOCKING (symbol of the "anchor") FIRE-KING, ovenware, 23, MADE IN USA, 1 PT.
This type of serving ware with the handles are far less common than the mixing bowls. Here's your chance to score rare Gay Fad pieces, or supplement your existing collection of Gay Fad!
