Wonderful antique lithograph of one of the famous French painter Eugene Petit's oil on canvas entitled "Bouquet of Flowers in a Vase". The colors are rich fall tones. This litho is marked in the left hand corner with "G.P. 3782 - Litho.USA. @L Co." and on the right (partially covered by the frame) is the inscription "E. Petit" signature.
Petit was born in 1839 and died in 1886. This 19th century French painter was famous for his still life paintings of flowers as well as his paintings of sporting dogs, particularly pointers.
The litho is approximately 6.5" X 8.5" . The lovely wooden frame (I believe it is maple) has an inner frame 9" X 11" and an outer frame which measures 11" X 13". Large old staples are used to keep the corners together. The frame has some wear marks on it but could be touched up or left as is. There is an old twisted metal ring at the top to hang the art with which has "K R C" and "G 877" etched into it.
This is an incredibly interesting piece of art. I was unable to find values for E. Petit's lithos but some of his originals go for $ 5 figures. Given the condition of the piece and frame, I believe I have priced this very reasonably and think it is a wonderful turn of the century framed litho.
