This incredible laundry bag was hand embroidered, and hangs from an angled wire hanger, matching its Asian laundry motif, by a round wire hook. I love how the ladies of yesteryear put so much beauty into what were, really, practical everyday items - as if just to spice up what must have otherwise have been mundane tasks- You can spice up your mundane chores, too, by putting these items back to use! The embroidery on this piece is beautifully done, from the fine black lines of the umbrella, bridge and temple, to the colorful flowers on the young lady's head. The letters are filled in with a flat black fabric paint, accentuating the exaggerated "Oriental" font so popular in this time. I love the way the lines of this item complement its embroidered theme. It is in exceptional shape for its age, maybe a couple of small spots, but nothing notable. Where the laundry is put into the bag, one part of the binding has some fraying at its edge. The laundry bag measures 17x 22" at its widest/longest points. A fantastic vintage linen collector's piece, or fun for function.
