'The Brownie and the Ivy' an original 1950s poster print, used in conjunction with a series of stories on the themes of ‘Nature’ and ‘Fairies’ by Enid Bylton. This series of prints have been used in a classroom and although they show signs of wear they are strikingly pretty and vibrant with post-war optimism.
This print is by artist Eileen Soper, who worked in collaboration with Enid Bylton, most notably providing illustrations for the ‘Famous Five’ series (1942-1963). Soper was a well-known illustrator and artist, who exhibited works in the UK and America. Most of Sopers’ illustrations and other artworks are based on the wildlife around her home in Welwyn (England).
Prints have some scuffing and foxing to the corners – and the borders in particular have stains and occasional small tears and creases; there are also pinholes from where the posters have been displayed. Please examine the photographs carefully and feel free to ask any questions about the prints. Overall the images are in good condition and would display beautifully, these prints are charming and difficult to come by, good quality, heavyweight paper, prints measure 53.5 centimetres by 43 centimetres (21 by 17 inches). Combined postage available on request.
