This framed slate chalkboard is made from a cut-down piece of real slate from an old schoolhouse that was torn down in Latrobe, PA. Due to its age, the slate retains some light wear and some scratches. I've noticed that slate chalkboards seem to erase "cleaner" than something painted with blackboard paint. And they definitely will continue to withstand the test of time!
The whole thing measures about 14 x 10 1/4" and the frame itself is about 2 1/2 inches wide.
The frame was made of very old, reclaimed wood so it has some general wear and character. It has some rough hewn areas and scratches that add to its rustic look. There are also many old paint layers. It's mostly white, with some light green. The colors kind of give it a beachy look, in my opinion. It was lightly sanded, but if you picked at it, some paint would come off. It is wired and ready to hang horizontally.
This item is heavy for its size since it is real slate! I ship carefully and with insurance.
